Question
I was reading a screenplay and came across the term CU numerous times. What exactly does it mean?

Creative Screenwriting Mag.
Has anyone received their new issue?
I subscribed to the magazine in October, but apparently I just missed receiving the issue. After inquiring, I was told I'd be receiving the one that came out in January, but so far I have nothing and they have my money.

2nd comedy spec
I'm going to start diligently working on my aforementioned screenplay. I really like the premise and it's coming out well so far. I would like to bang this out in a month or two. It's light enough and doesn't require that much research. Not to say it will be easy, on the contrary.

So...
I sent out a bunch of emails with a cover letter and my CV to a few companies based out of LA. I'm hoping to at least get to read scripts and give coverages, etc. I'm also hoping they will ignore the fact that I'm not in LA at the moment.
Keep your toes crossed.

A million little lies?
Well, the James Frey story has been pretty inescapable here in North America. Frey was on Oprah today, Larry Kin just dedicated an hour to him and Anderson Cooper is doing the same, and I'm sure there have been many other outlets that have covered his story.
Frey is accused of fabricating and embellishing many details og his memoir, A Million Little Pieces. Unfortunately, I have not read the book. I would very much like to though.
While Frey is guilty of lying, I think others are just as guilty as he is. His lame publishers who I feel did not care one way or the other as long as they're making money. Oprah, who on her show commented about hoe the dentist scene should have brought warning flags to the publishers eyes, but then why is she excused? She read that same scene and up until now didn't seem to question it.
Frey is evidently a fantastic writer. His other bestseller, My Friend Leonard, is supposedly terrific.

Query letter
I'm about to send out some query letters and was wondering if I should only include my logline or if I should include a synopsis as well?
How's this:
Dear ****
I got your contact information from SO AND SO.
I have just completed a spec screenplay entitled 'YOU HAVE TO REPRESENT ME'. and feel that you might be interested in it. It's a romantic comedy about BLAH BLAH BLAH...
Please let me know if you're interested in reading it and I will send it to you.
Thanks in advance.
